When Alcuin didn't hear from Aaron in a reasonable amount of time after leaving that note, he was... annoyed. Mostly at himself, because he wondered if he'd miscalculated. If it had been too soon for such an overt step. Though also he was slightly insulted.

Finally he decided that he was tired of waiting, and he might as well kill two birds with one stone and push things forward. Though he was also a little annoyed at having to get Hannibal's input into this plan because he didn't like admitting that Aaron was ghosting him.

But Hannibal had liked his new plan very much, and was more than happy to help.

Which was how, late one evening, Aaron received a phone call:

Alcuin's voice was nearly a whisper. Weak. "I - I'm so sorry to call you, but I didn't know who else... I think... I think I need help..."

Alcuin nodded. Biting back his real feelings. “I just mean, some humans are evil too.”

Aaron smiled kindly. "I'm sure it's just the poison talking. You'll see it more clearly later. The vampire attacked you, and if hadn't wounded him, he would have killed you."

[alcuin]

It would be foolish for Alcuin to push on this, of course. Besides, the strategy here wasn't to change Aaron's mind about vampires.

So he only nodded. And carefully stepped under the spray of the water.

Aaron tried to help, bug it was a bit weird like this. "I'll judge join you, if you don't mind. That'll make it easier to help you."

[alcuin]

"Of course," Alcuin said. "Though I confess, this wasn't exactly how I daydreamed about being naked with you again."

"You dreamed about that?" Aaron asked as he undressed and joined in the shower.

[alcuin]

Alcuin laughed. "Of course I did. I mean, I don't want you to think that I was pining, devastated that you didn't call, but you did cross my mind a time or two."

"You've crossed mine as well... quite a bit," Aaron admitted.

[alcuin]

"Yeah?" Alcuin said with a little smile, and put his hand on Aaron's waist. "What did you think about?"

Aaron smiled. "Well, this featured in some of them. Not the attack," he hastened to add. "But being naked in the shower..." That and the talk of 'feelings', of course, which never really left his mind.

Alcuin leaned in and kissed him softly. "I really am feeling okay," he said.

[quitollis]

Aaron smiled. "That's good... I'm glad." He paused for a moment to think of his words. "We probably need to talk, right? But I have no idea how. And being here with you like this is... making it harder still." Because he was getting turned on seriously.

Alcuin knew they should talk, too, but he also wanted Aaron to remember exactly why he didn't want to lose him.

Also, frankly, especially considering that he wasn't actually traumatized from a vampire bite, he was rather turned on himself.

"I'm glad I'm making it harder," he said softly, and slid a hand between Aaron's legs.

Oh, thank God, Alcuin was thinking along the same lines. They could talk later. Right now, he kissed him and deepened the kiss as he hummed at Alcuin's touch.

Alcuin made a sound of pleasure into the kiss but then said breathlessly, "Why don't we go to the bed." He didn't want Aaron to think he was a hundred percent okay, and perhaps Aaron's feelings would come out even more if he were treating Alcuin so terribly gently.

Aaron nodded. "And let me know if anything hurts," he added as he turned off the shower.

Alcuin slipped both his arms around Aaron's neck.

"You could carry me, just to be sure," he teased.

[quitollis]

Never would have done this before. Sentimentality, or anything that just wasn't to the point of getting off.

But he lifted Alcuin and carried him to the bed. And he was smiling. And he was enjoying it.

He lay down Alcuin carefully and kissed him deeply.

Alcuin actually quite liked being carried. He made a little sound of pleasure into the kiss and wrapped his arms around his neck.

Aaron smiled into the kiss. Alcuin made him feel lighter, he realized, more carefree in a way. About sex, but mostly about how he acted. Less to the point, more... enjoying himself. And why? Because - as Eliot so eloquently had put it - Alcuin was more than a hole to stick his cock in.

He smiled and kissed him again, letting himself feel and enjoy the lightness of it.

Alcuin could hear his thoughts, and filed the name 'Eliot' away again. He also couldn't help but think that, despite his motives, maybe he was doing something very good for Aaron here.

"I like the way you kiss me," he said, allowing the lightness into his voice, smiling at him.

Aaron smiled. "I like the way you smile," he admitted.

"You make me smile," Alcuin said. "You're sweet. But also... a little sad. It makes me want to make you smile, too."

"Well.... you do," Aaron admitted. And smiled, quite genuinely.

"I really want you," Alcuin said, and arched his back slightly on the bed. "Though I may need you to do all the work this time."
